This is the email I sent to our engineering dept :-)

Guys It was a slightly rough day on the lake Yesterday 9-7-03, but the captain and his mate Freddie went out for the big fish again. With about 3 ft rolling waves we set the downriggers to 50ft in 80ft of water. With in 10 minutes of setting the poles, "FISH ON" and my rod was bent to the water for the next 25 minutes. My first mate was snapping digital pictures while the fight was on. The captain knew it was a big fish and told Freddie his mate to bring in the other lines. While I was fighting this whopper the mate was just in awe :-) We use 12lb test and small 4 inch Thundersticks for lures, so a this is a challenge to land a fish of this caliber. Well the end result was THIS - see the attached pictures :-)

To bad the ESLO derby was over, this fish is about 5 lbs larger than the one that won the $25K worth of prizes. This fish was 41 inches tip to tip and was about 35lbs. Next year we are thinking of entering the derby. With a first mate who can net a fish like that, he is welcome anytime! :-) You should of seen him trying to lift this monster into the boat !!!! Tonight the salmon will go into the brine, and she will be smoked all day Wednesday, Hopefully Thursday I will bring in a HUGE bag of smoked salmon. All the eggs that were in her will be welcome bait for the Steelhead this winter. Enjoy, the pictures, we sure enjoyed the excitement

See ya Dennis
