Day 1 - Niagara River - RJ, Muskiemagnet, Markus
Posted: Tue Dec 28, 2004 8:55 pm
RJ and Muskiemagnet arrived safe and sound....late, but they made it.
We only had a few hours of daylight to fish, but we headed straight to the Niagara River from the Hamilton airport.
We were launched and on the river at 2pm. First drift I decided to give a demonstation on what practices we'll be using and what the target fish will be....and as float would say WHAMMMMM!!!
A nice hen rainbow smashed my minnow and our first fish was hooked. Here's a look at our first fish of our 3 day adventure.

With a fish in the boat our confidence was up and we resumed making drifts in front of Queenston. We each took a turn missing a hit until finally I set the hook into my second fish. This one had some good weight and on the 6 foot pole it was a great fight. We put the buck in the net and were happy to have our second fish in the boat.

That would be it for our 2 hours of drifting. We pulled the boat out and headed to my place for a dinner of fresh fillets.

It was great seeing Heatmister74 down there again. He sounded like he had a great day. We're looking forward to heading to the mouth tomorrow and targeting the Lake Trout.
RJ plans on doing a full report when he returns, so I'll save the further details to him. A belly full of fillets and a fresh pop open is in my near future...and we'll be tieing up some fresh roe and hitting the hay early to rest up for day 2.
