we didnt get a pic of JimW's bow till the end and heres the "football" bow at the end of our journey back at the launch.

all in all we landed 4 lakers and 1 bow with 1 monster laker lost at the boat. this was my 1st laker in over 20yrs and im still excited about the great day we had and a pleasure meeting and fishing with more Hawkers.

I'm not a fanatic catch a release fisherman but i do fish the Niagara a fair bit. I would say that those Lakers will not only taste horrible but that the toxicity of those fish will be off the scale(they are 0 on the Ontario Consumption Scale). That little bow is probable safe and reasonably tasty. I would really think over keeping any Lakers from Lake O especially larger versions like those. Not trying to create a problem here but there are people that don't know the consumption facts and in the Great Lakes the toxins are of a type that build up in body tissue and never leave. Very unwise consumtion decision. Lots of those big boys out there on the bar though. Regards Snidley

Great pics Squig! :P You guys did great and I still can't get over how much weight JimW has lost! FrenchRiverHitter, it was great seeing you again and I can't wait til we head up north this summer.

Squig, you made these 2 guys smile and gave them a March fishing opputtunity and I think thats just really great.

See ya again soon!

Thanks for putting the pictures up Squig69.

Snidley thanks for the tips about the toxicity. I figure the lake trout toxicity levels would be quite high, but a couple meals over a life time will not cause any real problems. I will smoke the laker to improve it's taste and my wife and kids will not eat the lake trout!!!

No probs Jim. I was doubley shocked to see that this year the Consumption Guide says that for Western L. Ontario the consumption for Smelt is 0. Thats down from 2 meals a month last year. Whats up with that? Maybe Love canal has sprung a leak! Anyway if you can'
t eat a small plankton feeder like a Smelt what is the world coming to. I wonder where those Lake Smelts sold in the stores come from? Snidley out.
