i fish from boat or kayaks or shore
fish shore on rideau canal. at downs lake. victoria island so many time we got the game warden comes in and check our papers. but never said a word about this.


but make sure its not private land or dock.

ex at downs lakes. on that part bear the restaurant wehere they rent kayaks. that maybe private own or rented ,,,so maybe there ya cant.

I’ve heard similar things about fishing regulations in Ottawa. It seems like there’s definitely some confusion between city and provincial rules. A few friends have mentioned getting mixed messages from bylaw officers too. If you're planning to fish, it might be worth checking in with the city directly. I don’t fish from shore either, but I know it can get tricky with these local rules.
