Best knots for Flurocarbon line

Hey folks,
I am planning on trying to use flurocarbon as leader material for walleys. I was just wondering what are the best knots to use with this line.

For attaching to hooks use the Palomar knot, but make sure u wet the line first, Florocarbon line is very sensitve to heat. For attaching florocarbon and a main line use a blood knot, but again wet the line to avoid breakage. Booth knots and more can be found on the home page under knots.

If its sensitive to heat, does it hold up well when you have a big fish on? What I mean is does the friction cause breakage with floroline or is normally just the usual breakage? I know it shatters so I'm kinda curious.

Good question RD. Florocarbon line is very abrasion resistant and is one of the toughest types of lines arround. It can be very sensitive to heat when you leaving it in your car on a hot day or the friction caused by pulling a knot tight. Otherwise you do not have to worry about it on your reel or rubbing on a branch or rock or any other friction.
Do not try to use staight Florocarbon as a main line or backing on spinning gear beacuse of it's low memory it will not hold on the spool. It is great for baitcatsers and as leader material.

If attaching florocarbon to braided lines I'd use a double surgeons knot, I find its an easier knot to tie with different diameter lines than a blood knot. But then there's something beautiful about a nicely tied blood knot!

Braid to larger diameter mono - Albright (easy knot)

Braid to same diameter mono - Uni to Uni (tougher to perfect for sure)
