Low water vs. Bass Fishin in the Mississippi

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Heard from a few people yesterday that the water in the Mississippi is low for this time of year. I havent seen personally, but what effect will this have on the Bass fishin come next week??

Im kinda new at fishin this area and I would like to get myself and the kids out next weekend and onward.

I have no boat so we will will be lookin at shore fishin.

MM

Does this mean they will congregate in deeper pools of water?? The way I figure it less water the higher the water temp will be.

Pardon my ignorance here, Im just finally getting back into fishing, since the kids are older and Im in an area where I dont have to travel very far for good fishin

Bass like warm water, low water usually means less places for them to hide.

I have a camp on the lower Miss. Current water level is just a tad higher than you'd expect at midsummer. Before the recent rain the water temp was around the midsummer level, too. Should be ideal for the bass opener.

One thing Ive learned about the Miss is that nothigns to shallow for bass and big ones too. Fish overlooked areas with little to no water it will be really warm and full of small fish for them to feed on!

Does anyone know whether the water levels are low (for this time of yr.) on Crotch L. as well since it is also part of the Mississippi system?

As stated the Miss is pretty much on par for water levels for this time of year. As well, generally bass aren't to hard to find on this lake.

Something I rarely let out of the bag but feel generous today is don't overtlook the SM on the Miss

I also have to agree with Spence Scout on his tip.

RJ...10lb pike is impressive for the Miss.
