Out on Bass Lake today

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Out on Bass Lake today

Post by 10pointer »

Hey all;
Went to Bass Lake just outside Orillia today with my buddy Guillermo today. I picked him up in AzuluSpookd's truck(sweet ride) we were on the lake fishing at around six :).
We fished for a while and had a couple of nibbles and a couple of flips at the topwater baits but nothing serious. That's when Guillermo suggested that we try lighter tackle(specifically the worm sinker on the Texas rig). No sooner did we switch up and I landed on that was 2lbs and change

A little while later I hook into another this one was over 3lbs, Guillermo's line at this time was giving him a headache.

Then it happened, I hooked into a third one, and this time Guillermo was not going for the net, teasing me and then grabbing the net and scooping him up, this on was about 1.5lbs

Guillermo ended up changing to a different set up, a more solid rod with better line, and like the Leafs in mid-season form I let the lead slip away. Guillermo caught this one that was 3lbs +.

Followed up not long after with this one registering at 1.5lbs

Oh no he is catching up, :o just as we were getting close to the landing we were throwing power worms at the docks as they were the only structure in that part of the lake. Guillermo throws one in beside the boat and thinks he's dragging bottom and just then we see the flash the fish heads right for the ladder on the dock :o :o :o, He gets to it, Guillermo pulls him out of there 8-), he goes through the rungs of the ladder and I think to myself oh, this one is over :( :( >:(, and Gullermo does it again ;D :o 8-), pulls the bass right back out, when dealing with the fish in the boat our stringer became wrapped around the dock ::), we got them back. The last fish weighing 2lbs and change, we left after that, Guillermo was on fire and I thought better of leaving in a tie.
Great day,awesome weather, and the first time we have been on that lake, gotta love new water.

Looks like a great day you guys had .
I have thought about trying that lake a few times any launch facilities , don't need much just a 15' aluminum.
Love trying new water we hit Sparrow for opening day with good results , Gloucester Pool is on my list as well as Couchiching .
We mainly fish Simcoe or Canal when the winds up .

10pointer,

I'm heading up to Bass Lake this Friday to spend a week. I'm not sure if this is the same Bass Lake as the one I'm going to though. I'm going to Bass Lake near Lombardy? It's a couple miles from Perth?
