Fishing with Fish-Hawk

Fishing with Fish-Hawk

Post by Lucky4 »

This week-end, Little Cleo and me had a chance to give musky a try with nobody else than Fish-Hawk himself for guide.

A meeting was set up early in the morning (some might call it very late at night). I don't know how we did it, but we managed to almost arrive on time.

Soon we were floating on the river, full of hope. We tried one spot, two spots, three spots... After a few hours, we still had nothing to show. This is when we crossed path with Bobber and his partner who was in the process of releasing a good 41 incher.

At least, a few fish where active and we still had some time in front of us.

We tried a few more spots, when I felt some resistance on my line. Probably another bunch of decaying weeds! Wait a minute, since when do dying weeds swim on the side and shake head? Are we still drifting with the wind?

A good hook set helped to clarify the situation. The weight (now heavy) was still on the other end of my line and this time it was definitely moving.

Fish on! While Fish-hawk was fighting to open the large musky net I managed to bring the fish close to the boat. After a few determined runs I was able to direct the musky towards the net. Fish-Hawk had no hesitation and did a perfect netting job!

With dimensions of 48 x 22 for an estimated weight between 28-30 lbs, this is my largest musky to date.

Thanx a lot to Fish-Hawk for the outing and Little Cleo for another great series of pictures.

You got that right JH! I had an amazing day with FishHawk, a clever fisherman and a funny guy. Or the other way around.

He his. He's really great!

And even if I got skunked. Again. It was well worth it to see Lucky gets his Musky. A fat beauty!
