Windlass Tip-up`s is the solution if you think big!!!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Windlass Tip-up`s is the solution if you think big!!!

Post by Big Bass 444 »

Well people I am getting ready for some action on the ice and as you know I like to share and help you out!!!

Last year I was able to pull a 40+ inch pike out of the Ottawa River and this year I will try to do the same or even better. One thing I know my chances are more than good! Why? Well I can't go wrong if I use my Windlass Tip-up's!

...I was able to locate a great article about it on the net. One thing I can add is the fact that I did the test and they work better than any other type
of rigs on the market !!!!

http://www.iceshanty.com/iceshanty/ices ... lers.shtml

P.S........one more secret get on the ice A.S.A.P. as long as it's safe if you want to get the big ones.....

You can PM me if you want to be part of the action on my first outings!!!

Yan.

I was over your way yesterday at a small tackle shop. I noticed that he had some of those Windlas Tip ups for sale.... what a great little shop. I was off of Notre Dame in Gatineau.

Looking forward to getting over there to do some ice fishing some time. Be careful until there is good ice ..... we had a fellow Hawk Talker go for a swim yesterday and it wasn't fun I am sure.

Good luck with the big ones.

I've been using them for all the years they have been out and if you think they are good on pike try them on speckles with a worm or a saltie sometime and watch the flags go off .

I found this interesting video

http://www.htent.com/video/htent07.wmv

can't wait to try it on the ice. the video does mention one disadvantage of line freezing because the spool is above the water.

I also wonder where you can pick one up around ottawa.

Or on lakers and hear the metal plate slap against the ice and watch the spool empty in the blink of an eye.

There rough for walleyes though because it's hard to see the subtle taps.

Reading about the authors family wooden and aluminum tipups warms my heart because I still fish this way and use a cardboard or 1 side of an empty cig. pack on the line to catch even more wind.mine are wooden and almost rifle shaped.
