Meeting people off the net

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Meeting people off the net

Post by XrapAttack »

OK has anyone ever had the experience of meeting someone off a fishing site and run into this conversation
wife "Where are you going?",

angler "I am going fishing!"

Wife " With who?"

angler" oh some really nice guy i met off ____ fishing board! he is really nice and I can't wait to get on the water

Wife" are you kidding me? what is he is some Ax murderer?

Angler" Ax murderer? "this guy has never even kept a walleye"

Wife" ok but you be careful, there are loads of crazy people out there. ( walks downstairs to watch another episode of 48 hours investigates)

Hmmmmmmm this sounds vaguely fam. Mr J. and I had a good laugh about this when we fished the first time. I mean seriously, how many axe murderers give you their address, phone number and his wife fixes you lunch after fishing? Ummm, maybe a well adjusted axe murderer with a stable home life? Well the good news was, there were no axes I saw in his garage but there were plenty of sharp things. Good thing they were all spinnerbaits. :D. I still crack up when I think about it. :lol:

I gotta say my little lady always gives me a look when someone calls asking if they can speak with Slop :lol:

Fish-hawk.net has been a great resource for meeting like-minded people since my move from Toronto to Ottawa. I always look forward to meeting more of you. As a matter of fact i plan on meeting a bunch of Hawkers on Lake Simcoe tomorrow...WOOOOHOOOO!!!!

try having your wife drop you off at 2am in some vacant dimly lit parking lot to meet some dude you have only talked to once on the phone. One who tells you he'll put you onto fish guaranteed, only to show up and have a messy-haired tattooed biker looking dude with a 12-pack of Molson in his arms.

Yes, that's the first time I met Floatfishin'. A fond memory.

And yes, he did put me onto my first ever steelhead.

And yes, the beer was consumed :D

Slushy, remember the 1st time we met up with Float and Trevor to fish Wolfe? I recall Bowzog was a wee bit "anxious" that day.

Probably aren't too many axe murderers who do the dishes for you before they crush your skull, either. But hey, I guess you never know. :lol:

In fact that is the common theme among wives and girlfriends.

In a recent gathering at Mr. J's, it was determined that

Wife/girlfriend -> Ax Murderer

C-mans -> Normware
Mr J's -> K-pin
k-Pin's - > Mr J.
Normware - > Well she bought an ax in case someone forgot theirs

and on and on... Well you get the picture

Welcome to Fish hawk home of ax murderers

I hear ya Xrap. I'm holding 48 hours, 20/20 and Oprah responsible for the reason why I have to phone home after crossing the street. :roll:

Oh oh - Did I say that in public?

Sometimes I can understand the concern though. Let's play out your conversation a little more.

WIFE: Where ya going?

FH: Where else?

WIFE: Who ya going with?

FH: Some guy called Xrap ATTACK.

Hmmmm - me thinks the only word she heard was ATTACK. :lol:

You were not the happy camper, Gord. I remember Slush and I walking and walking up the gravel drive 'til we came to a spot where there was some barely breathing cell phone reception.

Anyway, the only one accused of violence that day was yours truly, during the rod-whipping incident. :lol:
