Perchin'.....

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Perchin'.....

Post by RJ »

Spent the day out with Big-O, Jazman and Gordo today....

We hit the perch real well on our own Private Lake Simcoe...

Fish were found in a deep hole....32-34 feet...

Here's a few pics...

Fish were taken on Ratso's and other small jigs....Mud Minnows on a tiny spoon were also hot at times....

So often you see little, scrawny perch caught through the ice. I'm impressed guys. The perch in these pics are all hefty.

That's pretty deep. So you just let out your line 'til you bump bottom then jig up, or what? Still trying to get this ice fishing thing.

Great shots -- the spot looks really pretty, too.

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.

Wolfe,

When usin the Vex its pretty easy to spot where the fish are....

Most fish were right on bottom.....at times I would bounce my jig off bottom a few times....and then they would follow up after it....it's great watchin them rise off the bottom with the Vex....

We must have drilled 60-70 holes today....I was simply scouting with the Vex....no fish...drill another hole....keep moving until ya find em....the boys all came running pretty quick when the first Jumbo flew out of my hole...

Very nice indeed. We have no safe ice at all down this way. Crazy weather that's for sure. I'm heading out for some open water float fishing to-day on Big Creek. I'll post some pics from over the holidays for you's when my son is home to show me how to do it. I suck at computers. He's a typical teen-age wizard with them. :o

Nice report guys, great to see the jumbos. I spent a few hours yesterday afternoon at Long Island. The bite was really on there but mostly small perch with a handful of nice ones.
