Anybody thinking of doing a Muskrat Lake outing???

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Anybody thinking of doing a Muskrat Lake outing???

Post by Duck Gunner »

Hello all...

Just wondering any of the Fish Hawk gang were planning any weekday outings like last year???
From what I hear the Muskrat pickeral are biting again this year.
A couple of 7lbs. plus have been caught.
Haven't heard anything about the Lakers or Smelt though...

don't have to worry about finding jumbos. They are everywhere. Fish 5-10 fow and you will get them. As for the lakers they are biting but not as good as they can. A few smelt have been caught also. There are shacks on the lake and people are driving snowmobiles and 4-wheelers but no vehicles. Hope this helps.

P.S I haven't been there but my cousin has his shack out. Good luck to those who venture this way!

Head west on highway 17 to the village of Cobden. The lake is on your right, access is right in town.

Hey all...

Not sure on the driving of trucks and cars...
With this rain I'd be a little leary.
I'm up for a day trip but a day or two advanced notice would be necessary.
Gotta work the time off into the schedule.
Can't just go at the drop of a hat these days.

I am headed Cobden way this weekend.
Will take a look around for vehicles/ice conditions.
Not sure if I'll drown some minnows or not.

Tip-up, the light line crappie rig with micro plastics just kill the perch on Muskrat.
The only time they weren't biting is when my line was out of the water.

Stay tuned...
