Having missed high tide at 9:54am I was still willing to give low tide what could have been my first ever attempt. By 2:45 I was out the door.
Driving across I was forced to bypass a little accident.

The road this year is so far about 6 weeks behind last years schedule. It's been mild and a bad freeze this winter.
Pulled up to my first spot and saw down in the culvert a portable ice fishing hut. On to the next place. Tried the new auger and it drilled 4 quick holes for me through 30-36"s. Set up my first rod on the gad with a silver Williams Jiggin' spoon tipped with some whitefish and after about 10 minutes I saw the tip getting some action. With light feet I snuck over from the hole I was jiggin' and set the hook. 16.25" of speckled goodness came thru the ice.

I snapped 3 pics on the timer and they all turned out sh!tty, So I played around with Jasc a wee bit to make one interesting.

I fished there about 30 more minutes then moved onto another spot. At the next spot fresh holes were just iced over. I gave it a try for 25 minutes but had no luck. I snapped this quick sunset pic then made it home by 5:00 to BBQ some steaks. The trout got cleaned and I passed it on to a doctor friend that had said she had never tried speckled trout. It was a good couple hours fishing.
