Lebarons

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I work for a major chain not a mom and pop and service is the key regardless of size. Being a "big outfit" is no excuse for lack af said service.
I too have never been approached by an employee and sometimes dont want to but if I ask for assistance I will not put up with bu@#^%$t quips like it is not my dept.(any store)I am a cust. service guy so get real irate with idiot clerks.
My take

Stores

Post by glenn »

Morning all, this subject has peaked my interest. It is fine and dandy to rant, vent and stomp your feet concerning the lack of what ever in the local businesses here. Sending a message out via the internet solves what? If you have any problems, concerns, objections to how your treated or serviced, GO see the store manager thats one of the things their responsibile for. It won't get resolved if he/she does not know what going on with you the customer. In this case all of you here have one thing in common the love of the outdoors, particuliarly fishing. Getting staff to work at a store the size of Le Baron in any dept. who have great knowledge of ie fishing is very difficult. For all of you here would you work in a field that you are most passionate about, work retail hours and not be able to enjoy what you love most, I think not. The staff always some knowledge and every day should be a learning experience for them and ourselfves. Are you going to get the same service that you would get from Ed,Crystal,Mike,Shawn or Wayne of course not. They all don't have the joy and the headaches that 500 customers a day brings. For years I've heard people say I won't shop there again, they will never see a red cent and so-on and so-on. But when your looking for something that has a high price tag. Their one of the first places you go. Two faced no, just taking care of your hard earned dollars. Don the store manager is very good at his job. If he knows about any problem, he will do his best to try and resolve it. If he doesn't know how can he fix it? Glenn

I've had good experiences at Lebaron's. I find the Gaffney brothers especially helpful especially when it comes to finding product or talking trends. Just a quick note concerning Cabela'- their store is planned to be near Mirabel, north of the city and not in MTL. itself. For more info go to their site.

Lebarons is ok the prices/products are good..<-- ------yay
Only thing is after the [usually very young] sales kids have been there a half a week they think they know it all and no one else[the customer] does...at least its Canadian.

Thanks for the info concerning when Lebarons is opening at new location. I really didn't want this to turn into a discussion about the service at Lebarons. We are lucky that we have as many small as well as large stores in the area that we can choose from, when purchasing fishing tackle as well as outdoor equipment. I personally have not had issues with any of the local retailers. Spence Scout, you have a pm.
Thanks

I may as well rant a bit as well..

Back in november, I went in for a new pair of Irish setters for Deer Hunting. Of course they don't have my size, but "they will be in next week". So I leave my name and number... No calls come along.... deer sseason is over... whatever......I made it through the season with my old boots...

However... My buddies mom goes in to buy the same pair I wanted (diffferent size of course)... she gets her boots and tells me... "there's no order coming in, I asked them"...

So I go back in late december or early January.. Check to see if my size was in.. of course not... "let me take your name and number and we'll call you when they come in".... So I tell them ya, BS, that's what I was told in November.. So she looks in the book, and says "yes we called you, the slip has been rmeoved from the book..

Funny thing is... call display, visual call waiting, and roommates don't lie... I never received no phone call...

And to top it all off.... It only took 30 minutes for someone to ask.. "do you need help with anything"..

That's my rant...

Good products... Ok prices... HORRIBLE service by sales people who know little to nothing about the given products (however there are a couple of knowledgeable people I have spoken to there.. no offence directed at you Spence... I have received help a couple times from you)...

The comment about approaching the manager is a valid one but I couldn't be bothered when there are other options. I too have had multiple issues with taking time to order product at the desk only to never get a call. I stopped going when I went in one day and as I was discussing something with one of the young lads behind the counter, his equally young colleaugue was poking him and shooting elastics at him while I was standing there. I couldn't believe it. I haven't been back since.

Labarons

Post by fishin loon »

Hey guys I haven't posted in a long time but I would like to now. labarons is like any other store they hire students and kids looking for a part time job and most just don't know all the products. As for standing around chatting they are kids and students If I need help in a store I don't wait I find someone and ask I am not trying to be rude or a smarta@#
Its just I have a son that works retail and I hear all the rants about the store where he works like they think I own the place or can change anything.I have asked him about some of this stuff and he said sometimes he is standing there when he should ask but allot of times if he does ask and he doesn't have an answer or know anything about the stuff he is made to look stupid so now he waits till he is asked again I am not saying anything to offend anyone hear just trying to let people know the other side and yes stick up for my son even when he's a know it all teenager.

To eliminate this problem I sit here with my catalogues from labarons, basspro, cabalas and any other catalogue I can find Make a list of what I want from them all. call the best BAIT and tackle CASTING shop and they get it all for me at the best price they can. deliver it done know trouble no fuss.

Again It is not my intention to cause any trouble with anyone if I have I am sorry and lets go fishing at muskrat lake I will bring the boat.

I have not had good experiences with lebaron so I dont go there anymore. I always feel better spending a bit more money and going to places like greendrake and bits and baits for much better service.

God almight folks! All I said about LeBarons was:
I tend to ignore the staff side of things (Enter Store, Find Product, Go to Cash, Leave) - but like others have noticed the attitude from time to time. They're nothing on the staff at a store my wife frequents for "Quilters/Sewing" here in Kanata - honest to God, dealing with them at times is like having a tooth pulled without freezing... Life is too short. Jeepers!
I have no beef with LeBaron's staff - as some folks mentioned, kids working, guys doing extra hours to get by, and some who are interested in the area. I have bad days, they have bad days, life goes on :!: There are 10,000 stories about any store, or service sector...(none like the sewing shop my wife goes to) Oh Lord!! Rude, Pretentious, Snooty, and your money isn't good enough, but do come into our shop....

Everybody have a good day.

Cheers!!

Now my 2 cents. I 100% agree with Glenn, if you are not happy with the service speek to the store manager and he will resolve it. It is much easier to complain about things then take action. If you are not happy shopping there then choose to go somewhere else or do something about it.
Sorry had to get that off my chest

Yo know this thread is about if the store has moved or not not what we all think about the place. Its a place to buy fishing tackle and gear, its near some of our homes enjoy it.

People always have to chime in with negative stuff to say. People working retails are just like all of us. They have good and bad days.
I spend my money all over town when I need something or if I am in the area.
Don't take everything so personal, maybe those who are complaing are the pain in the @ss customer that makes the retails people get grouchy

Yes xrap you are partially correct,if I don't get good service I can be a little put out.
I like the fact that we have a quality outlet in Ottawa, and I can relate to it not being a ma & pa store , but that doesn't mean that courtesy to the people that fill your pockets should be limited.
I can't wait till they move to the new location -2 blocks from my house
and I will continue to buy there and I will continue to expect the same courtesy I show all my clients in home building :D
