NB Salmon and Trout opener tomorrow

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

NB Salmon and Trout opener tomorrow

Post by NB Trouter »

Sorry if I make people jealous...

Going to the Miramichi tomorrow to try for some spring kelts...there super skinny this time of year but theres no daily catch limit!! (thats catch not keep for the people that might think I'm going to keep 10 salmon..in the summer theres a 4 fish caught and 1 kept per day limit)

This year is really different because of the early melt...I hope I can find some. They might be all back in the ocean already. I think i'll give up at 4:00 and go for trout if I cant find any. Its suppose to rain which could help.

I'll post pics if I get lucky

I'm certainly green with envy, NBT!!!

What patterns will you be fishing? Don't forget to post some photos.
Time's fun when you're having flies.

I'll probably tie on a Renous Special or some smelt fly like a Magog.

I will use 2/0 most of the day but I have some 5/0 's ( there huge... the size of my hand :) ) tied up if there really hungry...but I'm going with the expectation of catching nothing. It's even hard to find a spot you can fish without someone getting mad. I have a few spots but it won't take to long for me to run out of ideas if I get nothing. I'll have to try for trout if I cant find salmon but they dont really show up in good numbers till the end of may.

The river should be a lot lower than it has been for a long time but atleast I won't have to compete with the ice this year!!

I'm have a bunch of spots to try... I'm going to keep moving till I find something.

I'm trying a spot in Boisetown, Doaktown, near Blackville and Quarryville.
There better be something in there somewhere!!
