Bouncin' a couple of "Kings"

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Bouncin' a couple of "Kings"

Post by skooter »

:D :D

Finally, ....After a winter of talking, ...visiting, .....going to fishing shows, ....moving boats around, .....RBR and I got to actually, .....go fishing, ....in a boat, .....(can't count that shore thingy back in December)

Got home from work and there was a PM from Squigy saying he was available too, ....cool :D

John showed up in his "work" clothes(suit & tie), ...and after changing, ...we're off to meet Squig... 8)

We're on the water sometime around 3 pm and heading out...

What a crew, ....no comment on RBR, ....I've seen happier dead people...

Image

We clear the harbour and are met with gently rolling 27 ft swells  ...okay, ...16ft swells...... :?

Image

We head to our spot, ...water temp. is up 5 deg from sunday, ....We set up and try to do some passes, ...speed was anywhere from 6 to 0 mph, ...depending on your altitude at the time, .....trying to stay straight, ....was even more fun.... :(

Anyways, ...on the third pass boom boom, ...double header, ....John grabs one, ...I grab the other, ..... :D

Yeah, ....with six lines out the back, ....and that wind, ....I was pretty sure something was gonna get tangled, ....it was me, .....looked and fought like a coho, ....got off about 10 ft behind the boat, ...but I got all the lines out of the way for RBR....

Nice to get that first one in....

Image

Since all the lines were in we decided to boogie back up and set up for another pass...

Somewhere along the way, ....my one rigger must have slipped or something, ...cause when I went back to start setting up again, .....all the cable was out and when I reeled it in, .....this is what I found

Image

My equipment losses for this year so far, ...is gonna make my accountant cringe...

Never noticed the boom till later, ....(Don't worry accountant, ...that's fixable)

Image

We went over that spot several more times, ....seen some bait, and some hooks, ...but nothing like the weekend, and nothing seemed interested in what we offered. :x

It's starting to get late, ...so in a last ditch effort, ...we go shallower..... :D

One of the inlines start's singin' and squigy's all over it, ....it's the leadcore so he has a nice fight on his hands, ....we tried to clear the lines, ...but still managed a tangle or two, .....

In the "heat" of Battle

Image

However, .....we overcame the odds and boated number 2 :D

Image

The wind had picked up, ...the lines were in, ....it was getting late, ....time to go...

Back at the dock and loaded up, .....you want "porcupine", .....here ya go, ...that's just where they ended up after the waves bounced them and us all over on the trip back in...

Image

Glad you could make it squigy, ....and thanks John, .....for the sloppy burger, ....but that's a whole other story....

It was a tough fish out there today, ....couldn't keep an even speed or a straight track, .....but it was a great day to be out, ...everyone got a hook up, ...and my guests got their fish, ...what more could a captain ask for... 8)

Image

It's always easy to write up a report, ...when ya got a great crew, .....Thanks Guys

Hey... maybe the ball landed near the new downrigger I lost a couple of years ago... Might even be a King still on it...
Would be a good find for a dragger or treasure hunter!

Nice job Skooter...

Enjoyed a fine report over breakfast...a daily (or at least weekly) dose of Skooter is always fun!

Nice fish. I notice RBR is smiling in the fish pic's!

W.
Thanks, Dad, for taking me fishing when I was a kid.
