Muskie openr June 2 Lake Nosbonsing

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Muskie openr June 2 Lake Nosbonsing

Post by 911gear »

With the warm weather will the fish still be in the shallows or will they have moved out.

I have been given two different types of advice. I was told that they would be near the shore and then told infact thbecause of the warm weather they will have moved out to the cooler water.

Can anyone offer some advice ?

Hey!

I have a cottage on Nosbonsing and I can tell you for a fact that I have never caught a muskie in the shallows there! Id say fish the deep just out of lots of personal experience with that lake.

Good luck!

Ol buck perry would have said start shallow and then move deeper until you make contact. Of course that was before the internet.

The water is still pretty cool, regardless of the recent hot weather. It was FREEZING just last week. Try shoal edges and island drop-offs. The muskies will be shallower in the evening. Don't be afraid to CAST at this time. I love Nosbonsing. Good luck.

So, other than the elusive muskie, how is fishing in general at Nosbonsing? I am thinking of heading that way for a week this July, but I keep hearing that fishing in that lake is not what it used to be and has declined a lot compared to its past heydays.

Overall, last season was slow because of the intense heat. Pickerel (walleye) are fished pretty heavily on Nosbonsing, so fishing can be spotty. Pike fishing is decent when the water isn't too hot, and bass action can be OK at times too. Musky fishing was slow during the summer heat last season, but good the summer before last. The one problem with the lake is that everybody knows where the limited "honeyholes" are located, so it's no fun when the water is busy. I would rather fish for musky on Nosbonsing during the fall when things slow down a bit and the water is cooler....but I can't :( ...Oh well, I'll take what I can get.

Thanks for that reply trexellunge. I guess I'll find out in a month how tough it gets.
