Skunked part 2! A fishermans tale of defeat!~

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Skunked part 2! A fishermans tale of defeat!~

Post by Scotty Chaos »

Hey guys,

Well after my previous outing last weekend at a new spot for brookies, I thought I'd give her another try in a different area, hence the Quebec BR Mapbook I recently asked about. So anyways all systems were a go. I had the area picked out, the means to fish deep out of my canoe, and my trusty fishing partner. We get out there at about 11:00 am saturday morning, and for the life of us cannot find the damb lake! We search everywhere up and down the road and just cannot find the "lake" that is supposed to be there. The map had to be wrong, because we followed it to a T and there was no lake where it was supposed to be located. There was one at the end of the 4x4 road, but it was not the one on the map! So anyways, after both of us being completely and uderley furious with that lake, and the map, we thought we'd try a different one on the way back. This one was supposed to have decent Laker action, and we really wanted to hook into some nice trout after going through all the trouble of getting out there. So as we approach the area where the lake is supposed to be located, we see a sign! Thank god! Its the map of the lake posted, and on it, where you can park and also use the boat lauch. We get over to it, and of course, the water is just RAGING. Huge waves rolling in one after the other. Even though our canoe has terrible clearance, we decide lets give her a try anyways. Yeah, well we get about 10ft away from the dock, and the waves begin to pound over the front of the canoe. Needless to say we turned around immidiately, because neither of us felt like swimming in those cold waters and I dont think the 3 inch clearance on both sides of the canoe, were going to hold up in those types of waters. Discouraged, wet, and generally P.O'd at the world, we head back home with the bitter taste of defeat in our mouths.

Thank god were heading up to the cottage in three weeks.... I dont think I can take much more of these failing adventures!

Scotty I went scouting a couple new gems on Sat. Hit the first lake at 5:30 am and it was so cold my hands were cramping up not to mention the wind that was rotating on the lake, blowing us all around. We took off from there to find another spot a little more sheltered only to drive for hours with no luck making it into the lake. By the end of the day we came out with several new spots and a couple too small to mention fish and P.O. But thats troutin. When you finally find that spot and catch that beauty its that much sweeter. Discouragement only last till next Friday and then its on.

Yeah that's true. Its ok anyways now. That bitter taste is gone, knowing that next weekend is already on the way. This weekend, im going to Silver Lake to do some camping and a little fishing. I'll try a little trolling action in my canoe to see if I can lure any lakers out. Nothing to serious. Just a little R&R and maybe some trout!
