We finally got on the water around 9:30 and the weather was holding out (for now). We started throwing tubes and topwaters around points and humps for smallies and managed quite a few but all under 3 lbs.. So we tried for some eyes, found some nice drop-offs and ledges and jigged and ripped crank baits. We got two very small guys. On to pike. We hit some back bays with spinner baits, topwaters and crankbaits and I hooked into my personal best pike...notice I said hooked into...once I got him by the boat I grabbed him under the gill and hoisted him up over the gunnel, with one good shake my hand slipped, back in the water he went, fortunately he was still hooked but not for long, uner the boat he went and my line wrapped around the motor, gone. Damn it, oh well, good fight.
An hour or so later my roommate managed this little 5 pounder on a spinerbait.

So, on our way back (as the rain, thunder and lightning rolled in), there was a bay I was eyeing up on our way out that I wanted to stop at. The guy that rented us the boat said there were largemouth in the lake, just few and far between. Well I'm a sucker and had to try for one. The bay had bass written all over it, shallow, warm, weedy, lillies and stumps. So, we pull in, on goes a 7" yum dinger and into the base of the biggest deadhead in the bay. As soon as the worm sinks out of sight, the heartracing jumping of the line began, I reeled up the slack and sank the hooks into this guy.

So the day started off a little shakey, but it all worked out for the best. Gotta love the fishing adventures...sometimes the best trips are ones that aren't planned at all (which are 99%of the ones I organise). Hope everyone had a good weekend.
