Missed the biggest fish of my life O_O

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Missed the biggest fish of my life O_O

Post by OBD »

Hey just came back from fishing in the rideau river for bass... I went there a couple of times and always caught some amazing bass!

But today it was different... I got about 6-7 in 1 hour and on my last cast... I got a bite from a 2-3 pound bass (average size), and then ( i was kinda used to the fight) i look around while I was reeling it in and I saw 5-6 fish passing by me (i was fishing on a rock in the middle of the river)... 2 seconds later, BAM I hear the sound of my drag. I looked at the fish I was reeling in and saw a 10-15 pound pike EATING my fish!!! I was so shocked I started reeling much faster and looking at that huuuge pike! But after 30 sec or so of combat... my line broke and he went away enjoying the bass...

I would like to ask you guys here, on the forums, if you have any pictures of a pike eating a bass! Post them :D

Thanks!! :)

Nodie - My first post ^_^

FYI, if you guys are wondering, im the guy with the big bass on the "My bass fishing for July... (pics)" post! :)

That's not a Pike. It's a Muskie. Samething happpend to me last year when I fish for Bass in Ottawa River. Caught a bass and a Muskie ate the Bass when I reeled the bass in. My line was broken in first time but I landed the 2nd Muskie with my 10lb line. This guy was at least 3 feet.

yea it's not uncommon at all. Last weekend my buddy was reeling in about an 8-9 lbs pike which was approx 34"-36" and just as it got to the boat the biggest muskie I have ever personally seen took a swipe at the pike. It missed the pike put it was definitly something to see. I speculate the muskie must have been close to 30lbs or more. It definitly is an adrenaline rush to see such things.

Welcome to Hawk Talk Nodie. Great first post. Sounds like a great day.

Did you guys see Nodie's pic in my July bass fishing report? That was a day.

I'll let Nodie figure out how to post his picture in here as taken by yours truly. It's the biggest bass to come into my boat this season.

Pls keep the reports coming Nodie.

And there was a picture on the site a while ago - someone was fishing on Pike Lake I believe, and a huge pike grabbed the 3 lb bass they were reeling in. He actually dragged the pike onto shore by its teeth - they were chomped down on the bass. The hook was nowhere near the pike. Great pictures.

Last year, a guest in Bobbers boat accidentally lasso-ed a three foot muskie in the Rideau. A smallmouth had taken his bait. The fight had just gotten good when all of a sudden it became something different altogether - not your typical 3 lb smallie fight if ya know what I mean. The muskie obviously got interested in the smallmouth and became magically en-snarled. THe fish was un-lasso-ed and returned to the depths.

I can't imagine how the fish managed it! THe line was wrapped once around his body about a foot away from the leader - goes the story!
