We left Thursday night so we could have a good sleep and be ready for the Friday morning fish. We woke up just before dawn Friday morning it was just raining cats and dogs right then and there I knew the fishing was going to be tough this morning. I ended up talking to one of the guys that is always there camping to see how the fish where biting so I had an idea what to expect. He had told me the fish where off big time compared to the last time he had seen me. The troopers that we are away we headed out in the rain. The fog was heavy couldn't see two feet in front of the boat. Went to our traditional area where we always do good(weed beds for walleye). I did about half a million passes threw several points with four hits but no fish landed even though I was marking millions on the finder, but managed to take a pic of an Eagle.

It was ten O'clock no fish in the boat and we headed to shore to get a bite to eat and warm up and rethink our strategies. The rain wasn't stopping. We decided to head 21 miles up the lake to the mouth of the river. We fished for a few hours there and landed about 50 pike nothing big and 30 jumbo perch. The rain was so hard that none of us wanted to take the gloves off for pics lol. I did gain the courage to take one.
We decided to head back to the spot we had fished in the morning from 4pm till dark but this time we decided to fish 13 feet of water instead of 9 to ten feet. Right away fish where on. We landed 25 walleye in a row all around the 20" mark. Here is a few pics.
Here is a 22"
Here's a 20" and 22"
This is a pic of the size of fish we keep for shore lunch

. The next morning we get up same thing raining and foggy. But man the fish where on. The morning fish we caught between 30 to 40 walleye in a short period. Of course theres a story of the big one we missed. Brother in law hooks into a monster. He fought him for atleast 10 minutes the nob from his drag fell off anf the reel locked up you know what happened next lol. First thing he did when he got back was buy a new reel. We headed back to shore around 11am and decided to pack it in because of weather. I just wanted to mention if anybody else that the walleye are biting differently at this time. We must of missed 30 fish or so. Get them half to the boat and then let go. As far as setting the hook I have been feeding them the minnow and waiting for that last good tap and then pull. Fish on, start reeling and then let go over and over. Maybe there is something I could better either than a stinger hook. All in all it was a great trip considering the weather was tough and other people where getting skunked.
