Recent trip to Quinte

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Recent trip to Quinte

Post by Wall-I-Guy »

Well, another successful trip to the Bay of Quinte! This one had a few surprises however.

BTS, Skooter and myself headed out with my boat for the weekend along with a few friends. Managed to get on the water for 2-1/2 days before being blown off the water midday Saturday.

The three of us spent 2 great days on the water nailing 9 the first day, then 10 the second. The third day, due to Skooter hitting a deer, only Brian and I got out and managed another 3 for the 1/2 day.

Luckily others following us a little later to the launch, came upon Hoss and Skooter and gave them assistance (he was trailering Hoss' boat at the time). Skooter and Hoss were alright but the jury's still out on the truck!

If you're going down folks, they're on big time. And it'll only get better over the next week or two.! The fish'll get bigger and fatter. I just may try another trip myself.

Here's a few of the pics to highlight the trip!

My first 'eye!

One of many Drum, and yes they fight like snot!

Here are the boys with a few of theirs as well.

Brian and I went out Saturday without Skooter for reasons stated. The plan, get a double digit wall hangar for Brian, we thought we had her until we came in. It fell in at 9lbs 9ozs....Grrrrrr :x This fish fought like heck for a good 20-25 minutes. Next time!

Here's the one that gave Skooter a real fight, came in at 10 lbs 10 ozs I believe it was. Skooter may correct me on that. It's a wall hanger for him though..Beauty!

Nice looking fish, I am surprised you guys got out on the water at all the way the wind was blowing here in Kanata all weekend I thought for sure it would be worse there . It is too bad about that bloody Bambi commiting suicide with Skooter's truck hope it isn't too costly to get it repaired.
Way too go guys on your great fishing trip, hopefully we will be able to get out with you guys sometime over the winter to do some hard water fishing.

Woe W-I-G , you really have got me jazzed now. I am heading there friday till sunday with Jackel. MuskyMatt will also be there. Hopefully we will be as successful as you guys. What did you guys find worked the best? We are going to use deep down taildancers, reef runners and manns+20s and possibly use downriggers with some other lures. Really grat report and sweet pics.

Amazing how the Sheephead will chase down a crankbait. I use to catch them dragging a jig/minnow by the Belleville bridge, when the water was still stained (before the zebra mussell invasion).
