No gas for my truck!

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Interesting read in today's Ottawa Citizen (city section) on the grounding of our CO's in the MNR because of budget cutbacks.

Thats just insane. So glad that the government cares about the environment enough to slash that budget.
I will pick up the paper tonight and call my MP.

I was talking to an OPP officer at the Toronto Boat Show the other week, and he said the OPP budget has been cut back a bit as well but they are still in relatively good shape.

He said the CO's are pretty much grounded. He told me him and his partner call the CO of the area and let him ride with them, that way he still gets on the water and can save money for when he really needs it.

Cheers to those OPP officers out there who care enough to go out of there way to do this.

BOOOOOO to the provincial government for slashing the MNR so bad that this type of thing occurs

Cheers

The gutting of the MNR by way of budget cuts has left the department almost unable to do anything other than pick a popular lake/fishing hole in their region and hit it hard on a preset weekend. This results in a high profile with a minimum of policing. I agree that the OPP, (we used to call them the O-Urinates) are going above and beyond the call of duty by letting C.O.s tag along on their marine enforcement outings. This however does not replace personnel able to get out in the field anywhere at anytime under their own discretion and not that of the number cruchers and beaurocrats. IMHO

Apparently the " Wise Ones " also saw fit to slash the fuel budget to the navy, and because of this we had a grand total of 2 ships patrolling the entire east coast! While the rest sat. This news got out and the media got a hold of it so before it got a chance to get spread around those who take care of the country, quickly released funds to provide fuel. What the heck is going on? BONEHEAD POLITICIANS!  :x :!:
