Shiner and Limestone
Spent the weekend in the Bogie area fishing.
Shiner wasn't too bad, nobody there and limestone I only saw one fisherman. Both were productive with a total of 27 trouters, its about time they bit.
Shiner was dirty, lots of garbage on and off the ice, best to close it next year but limestine was OK, mostly cos none goes there that can fish.

Wait until the snow melts around Limestone....you'll see the broken glass, bottle caps, cans, lure packages, bait containers, cigarette butts, and other crap at the various fire pits around the lake.
The sad truth is that you can pick up trash at every lake/river/stream in the area regardless of its location. I usually pack a couple of shopping bags and pick-up the trash wherever I fish.

Good on ya mate!!!
Currently trying to find through the MNR if any associations are affiliated w/t the clean-up of any of these lakes.
If not I will be personally contacting a few fishing associations this year to see if anything can be done.
Really tired of seeing these lakes abused!!!
Having campfires away from the ice is one thing but blatently throwing garbage on or off the ice is inexcusable!!!

Had to register so I could respond to this post! I read your threads often but this is the first time I was compelled to register. It infuriates me to no end how people continually soil our beautiful lakes, rivers and forests with their waste. I thank all the fish Hawkers who leave spots cleaner then they found them! I do so as well, every time out, and I am teaching my son to do the same.

good move !
Hey,
Thanks for posting that to all the complete strangers on here, much appreciated. Obviously you are good chums with all these virtual people.
I live very near one of these lakes, in fact bordering it.
What did you hope to accomplish by bragging about the couple dozen tiny trout you mananged to haul out this weekend up here?
I see you have a total of 8 posts, so you must be looking for friends, or a virtual pat on the back as many are here.
The very fact that you mentioned all the gargage is ironic, as posting names of lakes people need to work to find literally brings lazy moronic slobs up here. I have picked up bags of it, it is pathetic.
You want to brag about the fish you caught this weekend?...why not do it over a beer with some real people, not blast it over the internet,
Sorry, I have just about had enough of all this, no wonder I never come on here anymore.

Neither body of water is a secret nor are they private. In fact, you can practically fish Shiner from your car while it is on the highway.
While I do not make it a habit of posting where I fish, this is a public forum and people have the right to post about their fishing exploits. If that doesn't agree with you, you have every right not to participate.

Bahh, it annoyed me before, but now, meh.
I just find my own lakes, and then don't open my mouth.
By the way, you don't need to go to bogie, just go to the Ottawa river. The salmon are biting like crazy, just slap a big sucker to your hook and wait.
(hehehhehe, that should keep the internet-surfing-fishers away from bogie for awhile)

This is an ongoing debate...A lot of people here feel that posting the name of a lake isn't in anyone's best interest (unless it is Lake Ontario or something that can possibly sustain increased pressure). I am of that opinion myself.
If you really want to see garbage pile up at these little trout lakes, keep posting these types of reports.
What is to be gained by broadcasting the name of the lake that you caught the fish in? Post your report, if anyone takes interest in where you were fishing, let them ask you and use your discretion as to whether you want to tell them the name. If telling them the name is something you want to do, PM it to them...
Does that make any sense? Or am I off base with this thought?

I can see you shrugging your shoulders -- fine piece of writingcrunchy wrote:Bahh, it annoyed me before, but now, meh.

Yeah, naming the location thing, dead horse. Was an interesting discussion last week (2 weeks ago?) but I'm getting bored of talking about it.
The garbage thing is new though. It really makes me mad too, pretty much anywhere I fish from shore I see the empty worm styrofoam containers, line tangled up in bushes and rocks, pop cans, food wrappers, lure boxes, etc etc etc.
I will start to bring a garbage bag with me to make it cleaner than when I got there. Thanks for that suggestion, it's a very good idea.
Too bad I can't get at whatever has gone into the water and sunk to the bottom. Lotsa lead in there too....you still using lead sinkers?

Couldn't agree with you more, well said.
