Early season trout

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Early season trout

Post by eric »

Hey there,
just wondering if anyone knows what would be good to use for specks or rainbows in a stream before they start hitting flies?
Wondering if I should take the Swamp Donkey out for a tour and troll the banks of the river.

This time of year, they might not bite anything, but if they do it'll be something small.

Well when all else fails just use a mepps or bluefox spinner. If that doesn't work tip it with a worm.

It's a little chilly for the trout to hit just yet. When it warms up a little, use streamers or nymph and emerger patterns patterns. Sink tip and full sink lines will get the flies down to where the fish are comfy.
