Opener report

Post by baz fish »

This weekend was the pike and walleye opener on division 11 west of the Cornwall dam. Start yesterday went to tried a 1rst spot and nothing then I went to another spot near the bird sanctuary then I had a hit and miss it , after I had another hit and fish on first pike of the season :D ho I would say around 6lbs. After I went to tried at another spot in Iroquois for some pike and on the 2nd cast I think fish on an oos smally at around 3.5 to 4lbs :( and I managed to get 2 more oos smally in that same range :(. Then I said maybe a spawning bed there so I leave and went to try at Johnstown but the wind was so strong thats my line was blowing away when I was trying to cast.

Last night I went to try for those walleyes in Long Sault and the bite was non existant :? . The only walleye I saw it was caught by a guy ho was fishing at the same spot as me at 1.5 lbs. That was it

Then today went for some perch around Long Sault and Iroquois and I must had caught 30 and keep 15. Then I decided to go and tried for pike again and I see 1 pike ho followed my lure and I caught 2 oos bass again. Dont worry all the oos bass that I catch went all back in the water as soon catch them. Shure was a nice weekend of fishing and nice to be back with these predators. Till next weekend as I will probabbly be going for the perch on the St Lawrence around Cornwall as its the opening that way on the same time as the walleye.

Good report.

I went today and fished from shore but there are no weeds, so nothing too serious and the bite was slow because of the colder weather in Montreal.

I did get a big bite from a pike or smally but 6 pound test (for perch/panfish) boke when I tried to set the hook :x
