Decided finally to try the mill in Manotick, got the advice from the folks at Manotick Bait and Tackle. Thanks Guys! WE set up on the east side fo the damn, spent some time talking to an older gentleman that was there fishing. Got Thea all rigged up and right away the sunfish were hoppin for her. Never even got the chance to put my line in the water. She also ha a few large pike follow her perch and sunnies in too!
While we are there this young guy caught a huge smallie! must have been about 5-6pounds. It was huge! He walked down off the bridge to the shores edge and let him go. He was a dark brown colour which i had never really seen before.
Anyways a beautiful way to spend a few hours!

Well done Denis. I fish that spot too sometimes; it's almost in my backyard.
Word of advice for anyone who fishes there: If you hook a fish from the downriver side of the dam, release it on the upriver side so it doesn't get smashed on the rocks. I don't understand why I often see people not doing this. It's common sense.
