making jigs

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

making jigs

Post by pmasson »

Do any of you know what the material is we can use to make jigs with now... I used to use lead but we all know about that now, supposedly there is something similar and I was wondering what it is and where I can get some. Hopefully it melts down like lead and I can make some more of my own jigs, they work great especially for the walleye.

Thanks

Proprietary tungsten blend is the only one i know of that is environmentally friendly, its the same density as lead. Can be ordered from small lure making sites i would imagine?

I read somewhere, bismuth (sp?) was being used instead of lead. Tin, as in pop cans was also suggested.
