Cats around Arnprior ?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Cats around Arnprior ?

Post by Troller »

Hey guys, I am planning on launching my boat at the Armprior launch near the bridge in Arnprior this weekend. I will have a few kids with me that are after catfish. I have not fished that area in a long time. Maybe about 15 years. I am looking for any tips on this area that would help our cause.
Any info would be appreciated

Cheers and goods fsishing

Try dropping an anchor in 15-25 ft of water where the Madawaska and Ottawa rivers meet.

Bring lots of worms/chicken livers/other stinky stuff......

Troller: My buddy fishes about 30ft from the dock for cats...As well the Madawaska is full of them...Launch at the head pond and travel past the bridge down the river...When you cross over a hydro line running across the river try the banks around this. Good luck

You could also try the going over and up the Mississippi. Go up to the hydro lines and fish in the deep water. If you do go slow at the mouth of the Miss, and stay to the right until your into the river.
I haven't been there for a while but do miss it.

Thanks for the great info guys, It has jogged my memory somewhat. I guess it has been about 17 years since I fished there. I remember the launch was closer to the falls last time I launched there. It has since then moved down river from there.
anyway the plan is to go this weekend.

Have a great weekend and good fishing!!
