Downtown Drummin'

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Downtown Drummin'

Post by Gord »

Slushy and I decided to do some laid back fishin' on monday......we sat on park benches and watched the river flow by. First up was the Slushster with her very first drum! :o

....then I followed with one of my own.

and of course, it wouldn't be complete without one of these whiskered lads...

It took a while to get those drums because they just kept nibbling the bait but not taking the hook. When I finally caught mine, we were expecting it to be a cat, but once I felt the headshakes, I said "this aint no cat". Then we saw the drum roll.....

Bowzog caught a 10lb one of those last year in Quinte. I can imagine the fight on that one now.

Oh yeah, cops were touring the area in their zodiac. Ticketed a guy fishing on the little spit of land between the island and where we were. No licence I assume.

Great report. Didn't know they were in the area. They really are great entertainment value for the fight. Caught my first one up in Parry Sound a few years back and didn't know what the heck it was. Bowzog also educated me by letting me know they are also referred to as sheephead.
