Crotch lake

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Crotch lake

Post by pchilli1 »

Good afternoon all,

Anyone ever fished it in late September? Plans to go to Algonquin are falling through and Crotch lake was recommended to me. I’m wondering if the eyes shut down with the colder weather or wether they put on the feedbags for the winter.

Thanks all.

I was there the last weekend of September last year. We didn't catch a lot of eyes but the bass were hitting hard, several in the 2.5 - 3.5 lbs range.

The 'eyes we did catch were slot size so went back in the lake. Also hit a couple of small pike.

I'm actually trying to get the lads to go back same weekend this year but no commitments yet.

Colours were spectacular and there was a pair of bald eagles on the lake.

I go every year 2nd week of Sept and the water is in the low 60's to high 50's and trolling is still a good choice, as the water cools trolling drops off and jigging will be better. It is a great time to fish and water temps should still be in the 50's look for deep water humps and shelfs going in to deep water. Bass and walleye should be good and don't forget pike. good fishing. 6 more days And I will be there, :D

I was up at Land O Lakes Lodge 2 weeks ago. Walleye fishing was not too bad, many good eyes cought in the evening on 20 to 25ft humps. Also good bass fishing all day, thats my fish of choice, I cought many on shallow structure on shallow running crankbaits. Also good pike fishing in the weeds with white spinner baits. We did have a few days of rain which seemed to slow the bite, but still had good fishing. Good Luck :D
