Charleston Lake
Heading to Charleston Lake Saturday for a few days for some smallmouth. Anyone give some tips on this lake for the smallies? Thanks

Charleston in a snap...
Tubes, drop shot rigs
, X-Raps
and lots of big top waters such as Skitter Walks or Skitter Props
, in 10-25 feet of water.
Points with weeds, or broken rock, any deep humps or shoals, as a general rule fish away from the structure a bit ...not to far but check the areas thoroughly.
Goog luck

I was out on Charleston on Sunday. All I was catching was small bass up on the shoals. I had bass rolling on my superspook jr. but they didn't seem to zero in on the lure. After I got on to some long tapering points I started to catch some nice fat smallies on a dropshot rig with 5in. singletail grubs. The lake has really cleared up the last week. Water temp was 65 degrees. 20-30ft of water was the best for me.
Good luck,

If you have a pair of binoculars ,,,take them with you.
If the water is relatively calm, take a scan every once and awhile out towards open water. If you see bait fish surfacing or fish boils. Its likely a bass wolfe pack having a snack.
If you have the August 2007 Ontario OutDoors, there is an article in it "4 Crazy Things Bass do" The 4th one describes Charleston Lake Smallie habits.
