Don't worry bout him Kert....take a look at all the threads since 6:30 this morning and you'll see that this guy has left non-constructive feedback on each post.....actually, go look at his history and you don't even see or read any mention of him ever catching a fish...wonder if he's ever even seen a real fish other than the goldfish he keeps in his house!!

But, I've got a beef with everyone praising the catches of guides. They spend most of their time on the water and fishing the same water. So, really its not like they're doing something special that you can't do. Especially the Ottawa, the river is so predictable with fish locations.

And, this is the worst part... trolling is the preferred method. So, they just know where to drive the boat. But ,yeah, they know where to go...but if you basically spent your life fishin you would too.

Come on you have to be kidding me ? I'm not one of those guides trying to impress the masses with exaggerated measurements and exaggerating poses to make the fish look bigger.

If you know anything about muskies you should know those fish are easily what dimensions mentioned or actually longer.

It's fun to see that the Montreal guides say that they caught all their fish in the Ottawa river while those on the Ottawa river caught them in Montreal... Putting the pressure away...

I only wish it was that easy, even though we have a great fishery 90% of the fish are still in 10% of the water and this is muskies we are talking about here, they are the most um predictable specie out there.

I guess I was one of the fortunate ones to have "it", I did not start to guide and then months or years later started to catch fish because of my experience. I was catching more then my share of big fish before I started to guide and only fishing on weekends. Because of this gift I decided to share it with others and at the same time allow me to fish more then one day a week.

I'm also a casting guide or a clients guide, I do as they wish and if that lets us boat less fish then so be it, this year we've lost more big fish then we have landed but it goes with the territory. But I seam to have a high percentage of clients coming back year after year.

Here's a couple more 40 pounders and a 30+ caught by a client's in his last 3 visits.

2004 was a 56 x 23


2005 was a 50 over 30 lbs


2006 was a fat 53.5 incher



Come on Tlunge lets see your 40 pounders as your such an expert on them.

Yes it is but that someone you are talking about fishes the Larry 90% of the time and used to always say the Ottawa to send all the pressure up here or on Kerts waters. He's actually started to mention the Larry as people were starting to see the obvious lies as no where on the Ottawa do we have green waters and spoted muskies.

Wow!

It's not often I am on here but then to come and see people discrediting others is really disappointing. I have no doubt in my mind that Richard is more than capable to boast such magnificent fish.

I wouldn't even acknowledge some of the guys on here for their post and soon they would disappear. If they don't get the lime light, there is nothing in it for them to stick around for.

Nice fish Richard, I think I have been on that water once..... just once though!

Anyone who knocks using a guide must never have been hooked up with a good one. There is a big difference from a true guide and someone who fish's the hell out of one body of water and knows just that one real well. A true guide knows his SPECIES and will catch it anywhere as guy's like TrouphyMuskie, MuskieMatt,and MuskieStalker1 can probrably do. The fact they they take clients out and they actually catch nice fish should tell you the level of thier skills and skill is just what it is. I wqas fortunate to get hooked up with a gentleman from the Thunder Bay area this spring on the Nipigon River fly fishing for Brook Trout. It was my first time ever doing this and with the help of the fly fishing guys here on the board I was equipped with the state of the art fishing equipment( which is a must for trouphy waters) I was probrably the best Equipted person on the river and most likely the dumbest those days! After not catching fish for awhile I put my gear down and told him to fish while I watched. He took my gear and start catching fish right away with it! He then ezplainned what I was doint wrong and how to correct it and guess what! It turnned out to be the dream trip of a lifetime! As we were out there and moving around I would ask him about trying certain spots and he would explain why I MIGHT catch one fish or no fish out of those spots. In short he knew his species. I caught Brook Trout from 5-9lbs and a Lake Whitefish that came in at 12lbs 8oz. I've had the oppratunity to fish with him again this fall for Steelhead and with another gentleman from over that way. I was skunked because I didn't catch one but what I lurnned from watching them and asking questions I will be going back this spring better equipped and a lot smartter.
So my advice to some of you would be instead of critizieng someone I would be asking more questions of them! What they know about fishing they weren'y born with it, they learnned it over years of trial and error and most will sharre that knowladge with you if you ask nicely.
Next spring I will return to the Nipigon River to fish for Lunker Northern and need some advice on what leaders to use on my FLY ROD! Who do you think I'm going to ask for that advice? I'll bet I go to the guy's who posted thier information on what to use and how to make them! Why go anywhere else! Keep up the good work guy's, there a lot of students out here that can and will use your help. By the way I'm 60 years old and have been fishing all my life, but for different species from yours so I need the help! And for anyone who thinks trolling is an easy way to fish you have a lot to learn. There is more to it than just dragging a lure around behind a boat. What speed? What color? What style? What depth? How much line to put out to get to a certain depth at a given speed? There is much to know about it!
