Musky Reports

Hey guys,

I look on here everyday to see how everyone is doing, and one thing I have noticed, is that there is not enough reporting going on. I see everyone asking, but no one telling.

Does everyone consider fishing to be "secretive", or "your own locations".

I am just curious, and some are probably going to bite my head off because of this, but I have to vent.

I thought we are all supposed to be helping each other out, not playing the game here.

What does everyone think? Should there be more reporting? ie. Lakes, times, locations, depths, lure size and color, even make?

hey ya!

i think people are more secretive now f you post where there will be 50 boats there the next day

so no one wants to give details!

till you get known around here not to much sharing of info

Oh, so thats how it is. Maybe instead of reading for so long, I should have joined in the conversations.

I will gladly tell people where I fish, as long it is strictly all release. I have no problem with people fishing where I fish. The way I look at it is, if they are in the spot where I originally was to go, that means the next spot will be open for the taking.

In the summer months, there were a lot of reports. Mainly what was caught and on what body of water. Not much detail on lure and depth, etc..

Then September came around and the reports just kind of disappeared. Everybody is back to work and the cold is approaching so that's probably why a lot of people aren't getting out.

Soon there's going to be a lot of ice fishing reports.

Or if you are like many anglers in minnesota, and Wisconsen who love to post pictures of monster fish they've caught and where they caught them, waiting 2-3 hours to lanch your boat and waiting in line to fish a spot, yes they wait, two sometime three boats waiting to fish a spot.

Yes, but lets look at G. Bay for example, all the lakes in MN and WI would fit into it, so why not? It would be different if we were all trying to fish a lake such as Lovesick or something, but with Georgian Bay at our fingertips....

I've been thinking the same thing the last two months! I notice you're kinda' new to the board so maybe you wouldn't mind crafting a report from one of your recent trips. Love to hear it...we like pictures even more!

I'd attribute the drought in reporting to several reasons:

1.) You never know who'll take a run at you for holding a fish wrong, giving up a secret spot or just someone who likes to stir trouble. That's been the mood of late.

2.) Maybe some folks who posted a lot of reports do it on other boards now. I've no evidence to support that...just a hunch.

3.) Maybe many have pulled their boats out and are settling in for the hard water season.

So give us a good report Mike or do an end-of-year story of some sort. We'd love to hear from someone new!

I don't think that people should be repoting details. Just the fish witn no details is plenty. It will make people curious and go out and have their own sucsess story on their own.. I don't like the idea of people bragging about a spot or a lake (like the one I fish). Think about it. Your fishing an area for a long time, figure it out and start catching fish. All of a sudden you go on the net, see your spot on some yahoo's fishing report and then the next time you go out you see a bunch of a-holes pounding your spot. I'm not an awsome fisherman by any means but nobody has told me where to go and what to use and how to use it. Well, maybe a couple but not many.

Just my opinion.

Oh ya, if somebody shows you a good spot or trick, don't tell anybody or show anybody because chances are, it took them a long time to figure it out.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few more muskie reports too. I have no idea where to go. I have 6 big suckers I've been struggling to keeping alive and I have no idea where to start.

I think I'm just going to hire a guide and see how and where they have some luck. I know it's pricey, but it'll be worth it.

Yes G-bay people think its huge but you post picture of certain areas, for example moon river, parry sound, french river or any inlet that supports a decent population your going to get fishing pressure, years ago you could go to the moon and atleast see a decent fish, but man 90% of those fish have seen every single bait on the market, I for one will never go back Ive put in so much time there with little to show for, and lots of guys still go back, try and catch a fish thats been stung by hooks several times, all I can say is good luck. Its like Nippising, lots of guys have been posting pic's and areas where those fish are being caught, in the last few years Nippising has been getting pounded, and will get pounded for years to come, the best part about it, is that the US supports a descent trophy waters and with the dollar the way it is people are not coming up here. I dont know what a lot of guys think of posting pic's, and all but Ive been pounding G-bay for years and to give up the time Ive put in, no way money I'll get back but time on the water I'll never get back.

I think if you have a favourite spot on a small and very accessible body of water that you fish regularly then I could see not sharing all of the details...but for a lot of people who fish bigger water and a variety of places then I don't think there is much reason to hold back a lot of info. We are all in it to catch some fish and have some fun so it is nice to know at least some of the details.

Overall though, I have found the reports here helpful and have had the opportunity to post one report (http://www.fish-hawk.net/hawktalk/viewtopic.php?t=26492) and will continue to post when I can get out on the water.

As far as lure ,colour ,temp ,dept ,etc...........

I don,t see what the secret would be there.

But giving out the name of the lake...........way way out of line dude

I think that is totally fair bass addict, would be very happy to know just know lure colour, depth, temp etc. that is just enough help for you head out for similar fish.
