You'll notice there aren't many holesitters in the bunch of us who are jonesing for ice. Moving around and finding fish is key to being successful during the hardwater season. I voted ice fishing... probably enjoy them both the same though, ask me at the end of the hardwater season, I'd probably say boat fishing
Nothing like the suspence of it all.....there you are looking at those lines waiting for a flag to pop out....then your heart start to pump and while you are getting closer and closer to that flag Tip up you notice that the spool is is spinning slowly .....Big fat 20 pounder????
Got to love the rush!!!
Since I just got Richard's Jiffy...things will be easier for me now
Well for me.....I just hate the cold. brrrrrrrr But as many have said...to each is own, there are +'s for many. I think the anticipation of a new type of fishing for those who may not do Quinte or Musky fishing at this time of year is the reason for the much talk about it.

Salar.
Well Salar, Lefty Kreh could easily 'place' a clouser minnow in a 4" hole at as many paces...double haul is needed
Gotta love ice though, it offers the oppertunity for exact presentations on key areas without anchoring...drifting...trolling etc...Dial in and do it up!!!
Hey guys,
I prefer the boat for three seasons a year hands down. However, a nice winter's day out on the ice with great company is a great way to spend day and some in the winter.
I don't have a favourite. You can't deny that it doesn't get much better than being out on the water on a summer morning, but I love the challenge of ice fishing. There is so much more of a challenge to catch fish consistently that it makes it feel so much better when you see that flag pop up or the fish take your lure on flasher! I can't say ones better than the other.
As I have said before, I know folks who would drill a hole in an ice cube if they thought they could catch a fish under it. However, I am not one of them.
To each his own. My preference is soft water and a warm breeze.
No contest for me. Softwater. I don't mind ice fishing and go out most weekends that are not really cold/windy/snowy but I don't enjoy it nearly as much. Of course, it would probably be way more fun if I caught more fish and had a sno-mo/ATV so I didn't have to trudge through the snow/slush.....
I voted to fish from a boat but I have to say in the past few years I have really got the ice fishing bug, and you don't have to be cold or uncomfortable when you are ice fishing with all the toys they have today. I do like the social aspect of ice fishing, as already said you can't cram 15 guys in a boat but you can get on the ice and have a blast!
Personally, I would rather be fishing in the summer or spring in open water any day. Right now I am looking forward for the ice to come though, and I am hoping for an early freeze. IMO open water fly fishing is much more fun, but I still ice fish almost every weekend, it keeps me busy in the winter. It also gives one without a launchable boat more options on where to fish.
Its just the fun to be out fishing if its cold or not . For me I enjoyed ice fishing as mutch as shore fishing as I dont have a boat and ice fishing give me the oppertunity to go where I cant go in winter .
Not to be rude but who cares! What it comes down to is a matter of opinion. And youre matter of opinion is solely your's! You cant say one is better then the other its kinda biased.
I enjoy both types of fishing alot. Both have there perks. I would never drink in a boat, but I havent got a problem drinking in my shack. Summer warm winter cold. Anyways enough with the ranting see everybody on the ice, well almost everybody
