Full or Low-Pro Baitcasters?

Just want to get a feel how everyone feels about their current baitcasters. I use both but I am really starting to favor Traditional Round Baitcasters. I am not very happy with my Shimano Curado which costs far too much, and I am favoring my Abu (although not nearly built as well).

Whats everyones preference/favorite? and Why?

Currently I have a Abu 4601 c3. Even though its very unrefined and doesnt like braid a whole lot, I like the feel of traditional bait casters.

Right now I'm looking at replacing it with either a Record CN50, Calcutta B or Daiwa Luna. Some of the small low pro's are too small, I really don't like the way it feels. Some of the wider ones like Curado's and 153HSTA's feel a bit better........gotta get me a 153HSTA

Musky Mike: Take a look at the Quantum Classic or Cabo, both in the 30 size. I have sold a ton of these in the last few years with almost zero return. Much sturdier that the new 6500's and less expensive than the Curado, which IMHO is the Cadillac.

Will do toobinator. With the Curado, i just really wish it had a clicker system somehow incorporated. The Drag system as well seems too touchy. its either too loose, or too tight, its hard to find that happy medium. I havnt tried it with Mono, only braid, it does cast a mile though. that is one positive. If the spool is too loose, which i forgot to adjust my first cast i had quiet a birds nest. but after I toggled with it, i can cast pretty much any lure with pinpoint accuracy which is nice.

I still favor the full bodies though.

I will take a look at these reels at the Toronto Sportsman Show to get a feel in March. Maybe I can get a good deal on one.

Mike, I picked up a Curado 201 last year and I love it. As far as being expensive, I got it for 175 to me door through Ebay. They are on for 150 now with the manufacturors rebate at BPS. I have one Abu round style reel and I only use it for muskie so I cant really comment on that side of things.

I got tired of reels breaking down, the prices and the silly gimmicks they were putting on some reels. Some of the little dinky ones seemed more like toys so years ago I went with Garcia 4600 C3's. They are old fashioned but bullet proof. They were what all the pro's used (if they were buying there own). They actually seem to get better as they get older. If I was a musky guy I'd go with the bigger versions.
