Shirley's Bay Thurs Jan 24

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Shirley's Bay Thurs Jan 24

Post by CCLad »

G'day folks, went out for a fish yesterday, sadly not too much to report. Fished from 4 until 10Pm 2 small eye's, 1 small sauger and 2 very stinky Ling cod. Missed a couple of hits but all in all it was fairly slow. Just set the hut up in this new spot too, hope it was just slow fishing and not a sign of "poor spot picking" - Eh Boot!

Most action that was had last night was me stepping outside and tripping over a frozen carpet. Now my feet shot out from under me within a split second due to the ice, there was no mistaking it, I was going down hard - flat on my back. Now I had 3 things to possibly land on.

A) 15" of solid ice (speaking of which, trucks were driving well out yesterday)

B) A soft fluffy snow drift.
or
C) a 10" Jiffy power auger and solid ice.....

To answer the question, let's just say it left a mark! Going back out tonight to give it another go. Will post results.

Was out until 11pm on Tuesday and caught 6 ling, nothing else.
Caught a walleye at 1pm, nice size.
Are you there for the fihhing derby on Sat.?
We will be there so the road going in should be nice and plowed.

CCLad,

well, you've got yourself all set up now, so hopefully your chosen spot will pick up at next go round. At least you managed a few, regardless.

Had to chuckle about the little "trip" you took -- sorry, but you described it so well! Hope your back is better in a jiffy....(couldn't resist). OUCH!

Thx for the report.
