New to Fish Hawk

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New to Fish Hawk

Post by Sportsman95 »

Hi everyone, my name is Nathan. Im 13 years old. I've been fishing 10 years now, the last year strictly fly fishing. I tie my own flies so if anyone is starting to fly fish, but doesnt have the time to tie them, I can sell some to you for 1.00 each. For all those who tie flies, I have a question... can someone give me a URL to a site that contains a realistic minnow imitation for trout and bass. That would be very helpful.

Thanks alot

Nathan (Sportsman 95) :D

Hello Nathan and welcome to Fish-Hawk.Net. If you're a Fly Fisherman, check out the Float and Fly Fishing forum. There is some great discussion going on in there as well as a Fly Swap that they hold. You may be able to participate.

I look forward to seeing your photos and hearing your stories.

Cheers,

Welcome to the Fish-Hawk family Nathan.
I have a 5yr old grandson named Nathan, he likes to fish too.
I started out fly fishing as a kid chasing trout all over streams in Pennsylvania with a box full of mostly my own hand tied flies.
Nothing like the good feeling you get catching the first fish on a fly you tied yourself is there?
"Back in the day" when I was tying flies I would get my patterns from the fly, streamer, popper & hair bass bug section of a Herter's catalog. I would think checking on-line with Cabelas or BPS flyfishing would get you started with pictures of some prospective patterns. There are some fairly serious fly fisherman in here so I suspect you'll have far better information than this coming fairly soon.
Good luck and I'm looking forward to seeing some great fishing reports from you this year.
