Spring Pike

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I would think that the boys in Vermont might have a different favorite 3.

Maybe I'll blow the dust off the 7mm Rem Mag and go to Vermont.

Ssshhhhhh .......... we're trying to keep this a secret. Yes, embarrassing as it is, Vermont is the only state in the US (and certainly no place in Canada would ever be crazy enough to allow this), where you can legally shoot fish with a gun. No fishing license needed. BUT, you must have a valid hunting license. There is an actual state statute that allows the shooting or spearing of pike, pickerel, muskie, carp, garfish, bowfin, mullet, shad, suckers, bullhead and other cull fish from March 25 to May 25. All other regs apply such as length limits and daily bag. So, if you blow a sub-legal pike out of the water with your .357 and it's too short, how do you release it ? Interesting question. So, what's the preferred technique for spring pike in Vermont ?
1. .357 Magnum.
2. .44 Mag.
2. Glock 9mm.
3. 7mm mag rifle.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Vermont also allows the open, unconcealed carry of handguns without a permit. Certainly seems to keep the crime rate down when you can see what everyone is packing :D :D

Spring Pike on Loughborough Lake

Post by Booyashaka »

Used to fish this lake quite a bit for bass in the summer. Any tips for spring fishing pike (May long weekend)? I checked out the map section..didn't find anything helpful other than the blank map.
