boat weight

Anybody give me a reasonably close guestimate of the weight of this boat. I want to buy it, but I only have a 4 cylinder ford escort wagon, will I be able to tow it or will it kill my tranny? All I have is a pic, it is fibreglass and it has a 50hp outboard. The boat is 14.5 feet in length.

You also have to take into consideration of the weight of the outboard, trailer and a full tank of gas for the outboard. That right there is over 500 lbs.

Hey Fishy,

I think you need to focus on aluminum boats. You might be able to tuck the weight in under 1000lbs.

Mine is about 850-900 all up.

Not a good idea Chris. Maybe if you tow it twice.....once to get it wet for the summer and once to store her in the winter months. That ole girl will easily crush the transmission if you want to take her for regular adventures for sure......that's my 'guesstamation'.

It seems that all the boat-motor-trailer combos for sale that are under 1000 dollars are all fibreglass, that sucks because that is all I can afford, well I can't really, but I'm trying to slide it under the miss's nose!! :wink:
If anyone knows someone who knows someone elses donkeys owner er somethin like that, send em my way, I'm down by Petrie Island and I'm startin to get Itchy!!!
I sold my boat 2 years ago when we moved into this condo, not allowed boats on the property, but now I have someone willing to let me store it for free!!!! :D
Anyway, any help would be appreciated for sure!! :D

I've got a 14.5' Lund with a 40hp 2 stroke and that weighs in at about 900lbs with gas 3 batteries and gear and trailer included.

Don't forget the old "buddy with the pickup truck" routine when choosing fishing partners. Especially the "buddy with a pickup truck and no boat who really likes fishing"
