Fenwick rod @ Canadian Tire??

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

I can't find any info on it any where, even on the fenwick web site. or the local tackle shop that sells fenwick has never heard of the highlander. The reason for looking so hard is, I was going to buy the eagle gt for $59.99, but this highlander is a $79.99 on sale for $39.99. Is it only made for Candaian tire? and is it a better rod then the eagle gt? both are the same action and size Iam looking for. please if any one knows any thing about this rod please let me know thanks.
I sent a message to Fenwick on Friday asking about this rod and if it is equivalent to one of their other models. I will post the info as soon as I get a response. I hope I get it this week (before the sale ends).
I got a reply back from fenwick today, here it is hope it helps. she did not give any specs on it.

Good Afternoon Jo:

I can tell you that the Highlander II is a Canadian Tire only product.
The Eagle and Highlander are two different rods so you will have to
base
your decision on your personal preferences.

Hope this is helpful.

Fenwick is a great rod making company. if ctc has it on sale ... dat's a good deal. i have had many fenwicks and they were all awesome. seriously I retired my loomis baitcaster for a fenwick when fishing bass cause I absolutely love the fast action tip. fish just don't get off. sweet.
my brother had a highlander years ago, if i'm correct  and it was all good. man $40 bucks for a good rod. who says the $C isn't providing some deals.
as for St. Croix at ctc ... please be true 8) mass merch. rules!

A quick Google of this rod reveals it's a Graphite IM6 two-piece rod.
I purchased it (7') along with the Abu Garcia reel that was half-price as well from CTC.
It's a very nice feeling combo with great sensitivity and a pretty good back-bone, especially when you consider how light it feels. The Abu reel has 10 ball bearings and is one of the smoothest I've ever tried. The rod has a 1-year warranty, chromium oxide guides (lighter and stronger), IM6 graphite, cork handle. It feel virtually identical to my (lifetime warrantied) Fenwick Walleye Class 6'6" which I paid quite a bit more for. The lifetime warranty is great (I've had it repaired or replaced it twice in the last 5 years).
I fish mostly walleye, small-mouth bass and speckle trout. I don't fish for pike but occasionally one of those audacious varmints does attach itself to my hook. Pesky critters, those slew-sharks.

Only at Coventry Road I believe - I think the owner likes to fish. As for fenwick - I have had one break, although LBs replaced it I would think twice on getting another.

the one chap had it right. Some manufactures make items for certain stores.I personally do not buy ct rods or reels , as I think "ya get what ya pay for"
buyer beware , nothin against ct , just a belief and or opinion
you should hear me go off on bass pro , wow!!

good luck with your search and hope whatever ya get works well

Good rod can't go wrong with fenwick for 39.99. I bought one today because I needed a two piece rod. Paired it with my stradic 2000 nice action. I'll see how it does on the water.

I`ve been using the Fenwick highlander rod for about a year now and am well pleased with it. I also have the fenwick Eagle at $59. both rods are comparable. the eagle is 7 feet while the Highlander is 6 1/2 feet. I am partial to Fenwick rods they are good quality for the price and at $39. for the Highlander snap it up. They are made specificaly for CDN Tire. I like the Eagle for my Kayak since it is 7 feet and has a short butt. You need a long rod in a Kayak to swing the rod past the bow of the boat. Hope this helps.

That is funny thought it was a new thread. I guess it's on sale again because I bought one Saturday.
