OOS bass fishing a joke(now with pic)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Matt,

i would call the mnr over somebody with dead bass in a bucket

or on a stringer...the out of season bass guys don't eat them..

its almost too easy to report that guy as well as ineffectual

i would go after real poachers, not some guy who was

dumb enough to admit he was "practicing for bass"

he is almost too hilarious,[ and honest too] LOL

quote:
I can guarantee though they are not part of the muskie die-hard community.

>i am sure all the rooms in Heaven are waiting for people like this.
and don't getme wrong i think you are doin it right..

I would some day like to fish for muskie but i don't think i am good enough and are constantly reminded of their virtuous mission

Nobody in their right mind with any moral fiber would ever fish them OOS.

Oh get real brother muskie god!
Today isn't the bass season open on the Quebec side of the Ottawa?
This is some arbitrary date made up and put down on paper
not a defined spawning ritual carved in stone.
The season has been open near Montreal for 2 weeks thebass are in the same state of spawn or post spawn.

Many years the fish are finished spawning by opening season
some years they are not...that is more of a problem than
some guy fishing one day before the season opens on the quebec side.

Come off it!

Musky guys do not have a `holier than thou art`attitude.

The point is respecting rules. Not looking for excuses to justify this type of action or to take shots at people.

Look. In the hunting world we like to `scout` before the season opens. This means looking for tracks, scat and other sign. No guns, bows etc are carried.

You can do the same (1 guy on this thread does it!) for your `pre-fish`. Mark water temp, structure change and water temp and you do all of this with a fish-finder WITHOUT catching fish OOS!!!

You are right. A goof is someone who blatantly breaks rules and continues to do it.

I guess I`m wrong for sticking to the rules........

yes you are right

The point was made many pages back ie. first post by Matt

and i was half kidding about Heaven and Muskie guys

i laugh at my self for bein dumbass catch release fisherman
who is not exactly saving the world and if you can't well too bad.

i also agree with Spence about dead OS bass
being real poaching.

i want to say one more thing before you manage to lock down this thread.

i have been looking at ..and as well have downloaded the zon e 25 bass season rules..
some how imissed the changes and was kjust told by afreind that the opoener is friday not yesterday.

So if i had gone out this week iwould have been an OSbass fisherman too.

I'm not usually so stupid as not to be able to read things well.
but i missed this new for 2008-2009 part..

please save aplace in Heaven for me..
i mean well well and do my best to not catch muskies.
It just stresses them out too much..

now please don't take yourself so seriously
and laugh at yourself a bit..
it feels good!

ad thanks Matt

Well I tend to agree with shutting this one down as the topic has strayed again.

So to summarize, I've just spoken to the Ministry and they've provided some good sound advice that I'll share with you.

Bottom line, this is just a photo of a guy fishing in a Bass Boat with his wife/girlfriend. There is no evidence that he is fishing for OOS Bass, even though he may have admitted it. For it to stand up anywhere in a court of law, the photo would have to show him catching and possessing a bass, and a written affidavid would have to be signed by at least 2 witnesses. There must be no doubt that this person is breaking the law.

Having said that, I've also been advised that I should remove the photo from this site in order to avoid any legal action that may be taken on Fish-Hawk.Net. As stated when people register and within the Rules of Hawk Talk, the opinions expressed by the members of this site are not the opinions of Fish-Hawk.Net, but I don't want to take any chances. By allowing the photos, I am technically enabling this person to be identified in a public fashion, which may or may not result in illegal action against him, which I cannot be held liable for. (Sorry Matt, but in this instance I have to look out for the well being of the site, the system is not as perfects as we would hope it to be)

Please continue to work with the Ministry of Natural Resources to try and find out what else can be done in instances like this one. I'll do the same and hopefully be able to bring a little more to you soon. In this particular case, there is not much that can be done from a legal perspective, we can only continue to promote Ontarrio MNR Laws by informing others. If they choose to break them, it's up to the Ministry to catch and convinct them through the channels that they have available. That's unfortunately just the way it is.

Cheers,
Rob Atkinson
