Anyone out there fish Lake Simcoe reqularly?

Been out 5 times dring the Perch Festival , Couple of good fish frys .
Anyone know how many ( if any ) tagged fish caught ?

Caught some nice smallies last year , got out fished by my 14 yr old more than once.

We hope to hit the water for Pike Opener , maybe try Sparrow lake for Walleyes.

Myself and a few other site members were up a few times this winter targeting whitefish and lakers.

We want to hit it again this spring/summer. I'd love to see a few reports myself.

Lake Simcoe is a big lake my friend.
I used to fish it regularly from one end to the other. If you like Smallies I'll give you a nice tip. Find a sandy/rocky bottom and quietly cruise the shoreline near cottages. Look for the water intake hoses for the cottages usually 100 feet + from the shorelines and attack them with twisters.
I was even able to get a smallie so annoyed that he hit the lure in plain sight of me and the boat by bouncing the 1/4 oz jig head off his noggin.

Give me some geographical idea of where you normally like to fish.

We spend majority of the summer months fishing east shore from South or Orillia to the trent canal .In laws have cottage in Brechin.
Have good luck with some beautie smallies fishing rocky structure .Going to try your tip re water inlets.
Also spend significant time in K bay , Orillia and Cooks bay when the winds up ( East shore gets pretty scary , we run an older 15' aluminum Springbok, console with 40hp)
This year we have had fun catching perch up in Narrows (Orillia) and this weekend are planning our first attempt at Pike on Simcoe .Probably Cooks Bay.
Do you spend anytime on Simcoe nowadays?

Simcoe is one of those lakes that I target in the winter. I am interested in exploring it with the boat. If we can get those lake trout through the ice then it must be good in the summer. Bass and pike would be good targets as well, but not having fished it in the warm months I would at least need a starting point.

Ok, just south of Orillia is a nice little place called Moons Beach. Or as I call it, Smallie Heaven... Lots of cottages and rocky shoals. A nice time to try is when the may flies are out... You can actually fly fish for smallies.

Near Brechin, we're talking Pickerel country... You might even nab a Muskie or two.

My favourite Simcoe Pike haunt is off Port Bolster. There is a nice sheltered bay. (Good in the winter because the ice gets almost 2 feet thick) It's not as overfished as Cooks bay and you don't run in to the aboriginal problems associated with Fox and Georgina islands.

The Jacksons shoal is nice, but again, kind of overfished.

Finally for Jumbo Perch... Simcoes best kept secret... Sibbald Point PP. Theres a nice deep channel with a bit of lake current around the point.

Smallies seem to be everywhere on that lake.
I don't think there are many Walleye in the the lake anymore ,you do here about the odd one being caught in Cooks bay.
Thanks for the Port Bolster tip re pike .We tried Cooks Bay on Sat. had one hit ,didn't see anyone having better luck.
Going out one afternoon this week in KBay , hear the odd Pike hang around Minets Point .Close to home driveway to ramp 3 min.
There is a big sheltered bay south of Orillia ( west side ) think its called Barnstable Bay ,shallow , weedy should be Pike heaven .
