Looking for Lodge/Resort/Cabin for first week in August

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Looking for Lodge/Resort/Cabin for first week in August

Post by gogolfer99 »

My wife and I, and our two weiner dogs are looking for a place to stay and fish. Nothing fancy but my wife uses a cane so can't be too rocky. With-in an 8 hour drive of Ottawa would be preferable. Neither of us has stayed at a resort dedicated to fishing so aren't sure what questions to ask. Any suggestions or advice is much appreciated :)

Thanks, Dave

I stayed at the Stirling Lodge in Newboro and it was a decent place. I'm not certain about the dogs being ok, however, the fishing on Newboro lake was quite good plus the food at the restaurant was decent. The daily rate includes 3 meals. Also, there is shopping and pubs nearby in Westport. The upside is that it's only an 1.5 hours away from Ottawa....

Stirling Lodge is my advise too. Great fishing--good shopping nearby or so the wife says---good food too. They also have small pontoon boats for rent that your wife may like.
