The Rideau River is empty
OK,
Jokes aside here.
Go to Dalhousie Lake. Fish from either bridge.
Alot of good fish to be had. I have caught numerous fish there.
Good holdings of bass, pike and walleye along the channel under the bridge by the lodge.
In the early spring this area holds alot of walleye. This time of year it is really good for slabs. My buddy caught a nice one in the 6lb range on Sat, and on his first cast.
If you wanna go out there give me a PM. I`d be glad to show you!

I'll listen to any advice except going on the Rideau River again.Bruin wrote:I'm not saying that you didn't fish the areas, but from what you are telling me, you may want to heed the advice of myself and others and consider changing up your tactics.....There are many HT's who fish exclusively from shore for the same reasons as you, who are successfully closing the deal on healthy scrappers of all kinds. People here are always, ALWAYS willing to help out a willing participant, but advice is only good if you are willing to listen.... Maybe I'll head down to the river to see if I can't catch me a salmon.....Less talk, more listening
I might go to Big Rideau Lake.
I've used spinners (because I had alot of success with these in the past, having cought tons of pike and bass on them and my first walleye),... and got not a single bite in the Rideau..
I put some corn on my heavy rod and cast it as far as possible... I have cought Carp this way before.. (where are all the big Carp in the Rideau ? eh?).. I put some worms and did the same.
In the Ottawa river you get a bite within the first 5-10 minutes this way.
I cought Bass, Pike, Walleye, Channel Catfish, Bullheads, even 'Suckers'.
* So to me.. it seems strange when your worm just sits there for half and hour.. for 40 minutes...etc. and nothing bites it. That river has much less fish then I expected .. All the good fishing spots are more remote and more difficult to get to ..

How about you go fish those exact spots like I did, ... be there at 6am like I was... bring two more people fishing like I've done...use every damn lure and bait... - and then post pictures allover this thread about the many many... MANY fish you've cought.bucketmouth wrote:or take up golf...
but you may not have the patience for that either.
ohh, and I find Golf little more exciting then fishing in a bath-thub
(a bit like fishing the rideau from shore)
..don't take it personally
