Thanks Boogie. The misses did catch the biggest, but it was nice to fish my first tournament alone with my wife. She really enjoyed it. The winning strategy was really slow presentation. Casting to the really shallow edges and slowly retriving. Tubes also worked really well. We caught a total of 6 walleye, 5 pike and a smallmouth bass. Tournament was weight of 3 walleye. So we had 9.12lbs for three fish. She missed the lunker at around 3.00pm. Broke off right beside the boat. Bummer. But we still managed a bit of cash. It was a real tough day. High water levels and really murky water.
Seems we are going to be heading out to Cornwall in June. No idea were to fish. Any pointers would be nice.
Thanks again.
Hunter...
FYI:1st place was 10.7, 2nd was 9.12 and 3rd was 9.04.

Below the Saunders Dam in the heavy current you can get some action... need heavy jigs tipped with minnows... you also need a good boat to keep you on the fish.... plenty of current.
I like to throw jigs to the riprap walls too..... you snag a few but there are plenty of takers when jiggin around them.
Enjoy.

Hello walleye hunter...
Are you fishing the June 5th Tourney at Lake St.Francis?
I fished this tourney two years ago and could not get onto the big eyes. I did notice the winners where running a 3lb lead weight three way rig and trolling cranks...so I know they where deep...but no clue to where they where fishing did not see them all day long. It is a pretty big area with lots of water to cover.
I hope some one can recommend where we may find the big girls
cheers'

Yes we are going to try our luck on the 5th. We got the invitation after this Saturday's tournament. My wife already booked the babysitter. YES!!! But it will be a big challenge for us. I've fish the area only once a few years ago. We were camping at Woodlands. In the provincial park. This was in the middle of the summer. I have absolutely no clue yet were we will go
I had bought a map of the area. I guess I'll have to study hard and maybe pre-fish
Eye-Tracker, are you going to the one in Rockland on the following week
The 12th.
Lake St-Fracis is the one at long-sault right???

Ya' Lake St.Francis is the Long-Sault. My map calls it Lake St. Francis.
Yes I would like to fish the one in Rockland on June 12th... but I need to get a partner for that date.
I am also thinking of pre-fishing for the June 5th tourney. If I make it down to long-sault I will let you know what I find out.
I am glad to see more walleye tournaments in Eastern Ontario.

Thanks McQ,McQ wrote:Fellows, Lake St Francis is east of Cornwall to Valleyfield and west of the dam is Lake St. Lawrence which includes Long Sault continuing west to Iroquois.
What tournament are you talking about - I may be able to make time for this one.
My map covers both those areas...the tournament is on Lake St. Lawrence not Lake St. Francis. The FishnFix Spring Walleye Classic on June 5 at the Long Sault Marina on the St. Lawrence River. I don't have the contact details with me at work...so I will post it when I get a chance.
It would be great to meet you at the Tournament...

Hi guys, its me Luc the organizer for this tournament, should you require more info e-mail me or call me @ 613-938-6320. The event is out of Long Sault @ the marina. The water system comprises of a river, a lake and a reservoir. The reservoir area is inside the parkway system, it got flooded when they built the dam. If there's a wind the eyes will be there chasing baitfish. Last year the winners caught their fish in 60' of water in the river system. Two years pevious, as already mentioned in a previous post, they caught their fish in 30' in the lake system. So as you can see, the weather of the day will predict where I'll be fishing. All 3 areas offer a great fishery, it all depends on mother nature.
Good Luck, and hope to see you there
