Well .....
Hit the Rideau today. Launched out of Manotick and headed up the back river casting for pike and learning new electric on the boat.... went right up to the dam at the mill..... there are no fish in that back river... at least nothing I saw or marked on the finder.
Left there and motored down to around Hurst and spooked a monster lunge off of a sandbar just under the bridge that was sunning there.... big girl for sure. No action there either..... motored down to Taylor park and casted till my arms hurt.....
The algae bloom is the worst I have ever seen.... if this is a indicator of what the river is going to be like this year.... weed wise.... we are in for a clogged waterway for sure. Oh well I do enjoy my flipping for bass so hey a bunch of thick mats won't scare me away.
Just thought that I would report.... nailed some out of season fish... that went back to the beds... and my boat moved right after that.

I hear ya about the algae. I've been out on the river the last few evenings and theres a few big mats of algae out there. I can't figure it out... more restrictions every year for septics/water treatment/ and farm runoff... yet more weeds
I have managed a few nice size pike, and just a couple of walleye but I'm trying to get my trolling fix in before the mass weeds start and the cruisers take over. Theres still some nice 'skis around too... when the water calms right down before dusk quite a few break the surface in the channel... is it November yet?
