Custom Sea doo Utopia 185 (need help)

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

Custom Sea doo Utopia 185 (need help)

Post by Buster »

Hey guys,

I need some suggestions regarding my boat.

I have a utopia 185 jet boat which is a bow rider.
I made a custom platform with a stainless steel mount which hangs over the front for the trolling motor.

Here is the problem

The jet boats have no prop in the water which causes the back end to swing from side to side when trolling. i was thinking of building some type of clamp on the back platform where i could attach a rudder so it would act like a prop. The problem with that is i would have to take it out of the water when driving at fast speeds.

The reason i have this boat and made this pakage is so i can take everything off it and use it as a ski/cruising boat

Any suggestions would be great

Buster- take a look at some sea kayaks.

They have rudders that can be raised and lowered using a simple pulley system.

I don't see why something like that wouldn't work for your application. :D

The kick-up rudders, like they have on Hobbie Cats may be another possibility.
