New GPS Wich one?

This is where it's all going on. One can ask for advice or general information or simply chew the fat about fishing tackle, tips, and locations.

New GPS Wich one?

Post by katch moore »

Recently when I was in BC we had unfortunatly been broken into. and the only thing they took was my gps. with all my waypoints. well luckly a firend of mine has all my waypoints saved on his computer. so not that big of a loss.

but i'm in the market for a new GPS. as this will be my second gps, i'm looking a something a bit better then what i previously owned.

Now i do want to stay with Garmin so if anybody knows of any deals that would be great, or even other brands that compete with Garmin.

So here's the models i've been looking at.

the Garmin Colorado 300, touch screen, mouse ball to move pointer.

and there's this one The Oregon 300

so what do you guys think. anything better then these 2??

well any input will help me make a decision!

thanks! matt

Hey Matt,

It really depends on what you want to use it for. There is a lot of hype about these two newer models, however, if you are just marking waypoints on a lake then the older models are just as (or in some cases more) accurate as these.

What are your primary uses? Fishing, hiking, driving, geocaching, etc.

I'd go with the Oregon only because it's slighlty smaller.

It also has a version that is made of environmentally friendly material but probably more expensive. And lastly, it has more built in memory.

the reason why i won't go with an older gps, is because i got some cash to replace it. if i'm going to spend 400$ on a gps, i might as well fork up the extra 100$ and get a "top of the line" product.

and the fact that it's a 3 inch corner to corner screen is sweet!!! and it's also got a touch screen.

with my previous gps i had alot of issues with the "joystick"

like i said might as well spend the extra 100$, better bang for my buck.

man it also has "3d maping" now that's sweet!

anyways still sitting on the fence. Colorado or Oregon?????
