I am thinking of going up to crotch lake for the weekend and was wondering if any permits are required to camp on the crown land campsites around the lake? Also I was wondering if anyone has fished the lake lately that could tell me how the fish have been biting? I am hoping to get into some eys but if not I will be happy fishing pike and bass.
Thanks,
Marc
Crotch Lake Camping
The current trend now with Crown Land is to label it a "non-operating" park and charge people for access without providing any services. Any Crown Land open to camping south of Parry Sound now has some sort of fee attached to it, even though no extra service, access or even enforcement is applied.
Just a provincial/municipal cash grab, gotta luv getting hosed in this province everywhere you turn.
Here's a list of fees & campsites @ Crotch. Woot $50 for a weekend on Crown land.

I fish Crotch, and have stayed many times on the sites of Crotch lake, you do need some sort of boat to reach them I have never however had to pay 50 bucks to stay. I believe it was like 12 dollars a day per person. There is a public launch where you can leave your vehicle and there are two lodges you may be able to launch there too for a fee.
It is a beautiful lake with the lack of cottages and you can always find spots away from other boats.

yeah so i called the county and you guys are right, you do need to purchase a permit for road access and one for a campsite as well. End of day it's $20 a night for both (so much for free on crownland) they said it was a maintenance fee to upkeep the crown land roads (whatever) All I have to say is the fishing better be good to make it worth it, considering it's cheaper to go to Algonquin Park.
Thank you to all that took the time to respond
I will post a text report when i get back, unless I somehow figure out how to post pics on this site. As soon as I figure that out I have many reports I could post, but everytime I try is a royal pain in the A** and give up.

I hear ya marcthefisherman. I just can't seem to post any pics on this sight no matter what I do and it's kinda dissapionting.
Good luck at Croch Lake. I have fished and camped there many times but never have I had to pay a fee. Last time I was there was 10 years ago so I guess things have changed a bit.

I never had to pay a road access fee. Just a camping permit. It is worth it to be away from everyone else. You are not crammed in next to other campers.
You do have to work to find the fish though. It is not a lake you are going to just go out and pull in tonnes of eyes in a couple of hours. If you can get back into Fawn lake still ( if the water levels are still up) there is a good spot I fish and always catch fish. There are eyes, pike, bass and I even got a cat this spring. It is usually to shallow to get back there this time of year though thanks to Hydro. Hope you have a great time if you go.

Marc I hope you had a good fishing trip to Crotch lake.
And I hope you did not lose any gas.
Here is the new way of losing gas at Crotch lake - this happened to someone.

Today, the jerks will just about take anything from you even if it is "tied down".
